Questions

Where do the deadlines come from?

From our state security deposit records, each checked against the statute text. The same records power our state deposit law pages. Where we haven’t verified a state, or its deadline can’t be worked out from a move-out date alone, we say so instead of guessing.

What if my state says “we can’t give you a date”?

Then we don’t draft one. A letter that states a deadline we can’t back with your state’s statute is worse than no letter. We show you what your state’s rule actually is on our deposit law pages, and you can write to your landlord yourself.

Is this legal advice?

No. Main AI is not a law firm. The letter states your facts and quotes your state’s statute. For advice about your situation, contact a local legal aid office or a licensed attorney.

Who sends the letter?

You do. Main AI drafts it and you print it or copy it into your own letter. Keep a copy, and consider certified mail with a return receipt so you can show it arrived.
